5 WAYS TO KNOW YOUR ORGANIZATION BELIEVES IN DIVERSITY

Diversity is an important, yet often misunderstood, concept in organizations today. As we are told hundreds of times from our betters, diversity if strength. But what is diversity? In the old days, diversity used to mean people who had a wide variety of backgrounds, ethnicities, opinions, experiences, etc. However, thanks to the work of Here is a guide to help you understand if your organization truly believes in diversity.

1. Everybody thinks alike

Hiring people with different political, religious is okay as long as everybody thinks alike. Remember African Americans who may believe in free markets are really white supremacists. Likewise, gay people who are don't believe it is fair for biological men to compete against women are transphobic.

2. Microaggressions not tolerated

It is critical to recognize that not using a person's chosen pronoun is violence. Accounting terms such as 'in the black' or 'in the red' are really dog whistles that show a person is racist. Calling somebody 'incompetent' when their performance is poor is also racist. Wishing somebody a 'Merry Christmas' is a sign of white supremacy. These are all forms of violence. The only exception is calling for genocide against Jews and celebrating rapes of Jewish women is not considered violence. It depends on the context.

4. Competence is judged by identity and not performance

The idea of being judged not by the color of your skin but the content of your character is just another example of the patriarchy that support racists. Such things as hiring or promoting based on the person's skills and accomplishments without regard to where they rate on the intersectional scorecard are the new indicators that an organization does not believe in diversity.

5. Your organization loses money

Organizations that care more about profit and being economic viable are obviously an indicator of being fascists. Capitalism and greed need to be ended. Go woke, go broke is the new motto of diversity-driven organizations everywhere.
